five years ago – the cliche of meeting J

i tend to find the humour in cliche. you know, long glances across a room, getting smokier and more heated, until I turn and walk away. he gave me goose bumps when he whispered into my ear “i would offer to buy you a drink but the champagne is free”.
imagine my delight at his gorgeous accent – i tend to be drawn to foreign men. imagine my delight at his height – i adore tall men.
we shared champagne and looked at bad art without speaking too much. he crowded me just a bit and i liked that too. after an hour of wandering through the gallery and peering over the rim of the champagne glasses, i was just bubbled enough to slip my business card in his shirt pocket, kiss him hard on the lips and walk out. i admit, i enjoyed his slightly stunned expression when i glanced back over my shoulder with a mischievous smile.
i hailed a cab and i had only gone two blocks before my cell phone rang. i picked it up with a breathy yes? and he said “hannah, i want to see you.”
more goosebumps. I said – tomorrow. and hung up. and wrapped myself in a cocoon of being wanted. it is a wonderful feeling to be thought attractive and desirable.
anticipation is an amazing aphrodisiac.
